3* BCU / SCA Sea Kayak Training course
Work towards certification to national standards that will enable you to join in club and commercial trips at the right level
Warning: Last items in stock!
Our 3 star sea kayak training course follows the BCU 3* sea kayak syllabus. As part of this course we will spend time looking at and developing not only your personal paddling skills but group safety and awareness and rescue skills, as well as basic tidal theory and navigation.
We recognise that there is a lot of content to fit into this 2 day course, so we also offer elements of the 3 star sea kayak syllabus, such as sea kayak rolling and es kayak safety training, as separate courses, or they can be added to the training course as an extra day by request. We also appreciate that each candidate will bring different paddling experience, which is why on our 3 star sea kayak training course we work on a maximum of 1:4. We believe that this allows us to give each person more attention and time, and it also makes our courses more rewarding and fun.
WHO IS THIS COURSE SUITABLE FOR?
This course is suitable for people who would like to take the next step in their paddling career. Whether you are a member of a sea kayak club that would like to join more advanced trips, or an outdoor instructor seeking to work towards your 3* qualification and widen your work horizons this 3* training course is a thorough grounding in the skills required for assessment.
PADDLING SKILL LEVEL?
The BCU/SCA describes a 3* candidate as someone who considers themselves as an able improving sea paddler rather than a beginner. If you think you are this person, then a training course is a good way to check in and see where your skills really are. We can use video play back analysis as part of our constructive feedback process to help give you a clearer idea of your aims and objectives to reach that 3* goal! For more detail, have a look at our skill level page. For 3 star treaining, it would be good to be at least stage 2.
HOW FAR WILL WE PADDLE EVERY DAY?
As far as we need to! But we won't be trying to wear you out.
WHAT WE PROVIDE?
We provide all sea kayaking kit required for a safe, warm day out. This includes high quality kayaks, paddles, dry cagaoules and trousers, drysuits (if apporpriate), wet suit boots, pogies (paddling gloves) and drybags. We even supply you with tea and coffee throughout the day!
